The SGA/Language Club and The Evans Library are proud to bring FMCC's first foreign language database to you via the ARTFL Project.
"ARTFL, or the Project for American and French Research on the Treasury of the French Language, is a cooperative enterprise of Analyse et Traitement Informatique de la Langue Française (ATILF) of the Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique (CNRS), and the Division of the Humanities at the University of Chicago, with support of the University of Chicago Library. The following databases are available only to institutions subscribing to ARTFL. These selections will be available to FMCC staff and students from off-campus as well as on-campus. To access the databases below from off-campus you must use these links. Off-campus access requires the use of your proxy log-in, a pop-up screen will step your through the process of log-in.
- FRANTEXT: Main ARTFL Database (TLF), nearly 2000 texts ranging from classic works of French literature to various kinds of non-fiction prose and technical writing from the 16th to the 19th century.
Encore: New Additions to the Main ARTFL Database, 128 additional works.
- French Women Writers, 99 works by French women authors from the 16th to the 19th century.
- Provencal Poetry, 38 collections of texts from the 12th and 13th centuries.
- Textes de Francais Ancien (TFA), 65 works from the 12th through 15th century.
- The ARTFL Encyclopedie, a complete on-line version of the first edition of Diderot and d'Alembert's Encyclopedie. Robinet's 4-volume Supplement a l'Encyclopedie
- The Journal de Trevoux, ou Memoires pour l'Histoire des Sciences & des Beaux-Arts.
- Louis Moreri, Le Grand dictionnaire historique, ou le Melange curieux de l'Histoire sacree et profane, etc.
- Opera del Vocabolario Italiano (OVI) Database, 1,780 vernacular texts dated prior to 1375, including Dante, Petrarch, and Boccaccio, as well as many lesser-known texts.
- Only ARTFL subscribers may search the following dictionaries by headword and full-text entry.
